Shawn has worked as an actor, writer, and film producer for more than 40 years. He is a longstanding member of both Screen Actors Guild and Actors Equity Association, appeared in more than 25 feature films and television programs and was involved in more than a hundred stage productions. He spent several years working in theatre production as a stage manager and/or production manager in South Florida, Pennsylvania and New York, most notably for Producing Managers out of New York City and the Zev Bufman organization in South Florida. As an officer with two independent film companies, Earth Productions and Macaw Films, he co-produced a number of independent features and television pilots, including the Roger Corman children's film, “Looking For Trouble,” as Line Producer, in which he also performed in a starring role. He spent four years as a journalist for Gulfstream Newspapers and The Florida Sun, a subsidiary of The Toronto Sun newspapers, while continuing to work as an actor. As a writer, he has authored several biographies, including his autobiography, “Surrender the Jealous Mistress” (1998), and “Hibel: The Life & Art of Edna Hibel” (2006) about the world renowned artist. His most recent release is a book of poetry, "Southern Bridges/Northern Lights, (2008). In addition, he has ghostwritten more than a dozen books in the last ten years. Shawn is a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy under the command of Rear Admiral Richard G. Colbert and was active in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. Following his discharge from the Navy he became involved with the Vietnam Veterans Against the War.
